Howard Elmore, age 75, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (October 1, 2018) as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born on September 9, 1943 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Deolie and Oma Decker Elmore.

He retired after 30 years as a faithful production worker for Gates Rubber Company in Elizabethtown. Howard married the love of his life, Patricia Stevenson Elmore on December 20, 1963. They were married for 55 years and raised four children. He loved fishing, antique cars, his family and his church family.  Howard was a gentle, humble, giving man who lived a devoted life for God.  He loved to garden and fed countless people from his harvest of fresh vegetables.  You would always find him at home in the woods, especially at mushroom hunting time.  He was a member of the Church of Joy in Leitchfield for over 52 years. He served as a past board member and was an usher for over 30 years; always greeting everyone with a handshake, smile and a hug. Anything that he was asked to help with he was always willing to do.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Stevenson Elmore; children, Patrick and wife, Lisa Elmore from Bowling Green, Jeff and wife, Eugenia Elmore from Caneyville, Barry and wife, Priya Elmore from Louisville, and Sedenya and husband, Stephen Vigil of Leitchfield; eleven grandchildren, Chaley and Austin Hamm, Austin Elmore, Jessica and Sarah Elmore,  Estaveo, Dominic and Otoňo Vigil, Anjali and Ethan Elmore and Reese and Sayler Romero; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Lillyan, Marty, and Elyse; brothers, AD (Brenda) Elmore and JD (Alfreda) Elmore; special cousin, Norman Elmore; and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant child, two grandchildren, Justin Elmore and infant angel Vigil, two angel great-grandchildren; sister, Rheuelma Newton, half-brothers, Orville and Hallie Elmore; half-sisters, Harriet Thorton and Rheuelma Deever, and special cousins, Lee and Jimmy Elmore, Iona Denmark, Maxine Minton.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, (October 6, 2018) at the Church of Joy in Leitchfield, KY. Bro. Nathan Lowe and Bro. Donald Farris will be officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Church of Joy from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations can be made to the Dermitt Funeral Home for the Howard Elmore Memorial Fund that they are establishing.
