The K105-State Farm First Responder of the Week goes to Caneyville Fireman and Grayson County EMT James Embry.  James was nominated by his co-workers for being a guy who goes above and beyond as a first responder, and as a co-worker, and by the members of the Caneyville Fair Board.

During the Caneyville Homecoming and Fair, Embry helped render aid to a child who had grabbed a hot curling iron and suffered 2nd degree burns to their hand, and also helped a child who had overheated and passed out.  The fair board said they were thrilled to have James watching out and helping attendees.

Inspired by both of his grandfathers who had each served as Caneyville Fire Chief, he decided to join the Caneyville Fire Department in 2009.  In 2016, he obtained his license as an EMT and joined the Grayson Co. EMS team.  Embry also works full-time for the Grayson Co. Detention Center.

He said it’s being able to help people in their worst moments, and knowing that you were a part of ensuring it could have been much worse without the help of a first responder is his drive for continuing, even when the outcome is grime.  Listen below:
