(Leitchfield, KY) – A second semi-truck is being filled with relief items and will head to Albany, GA next Wednesday.  According to Wayne Clemons, Pastor of Potter’s Hope Ministries, the first truck that was filled by Grayson and Butler County citizens was originally headed to Panama, FL where Hurricane Michael made landfall earlier this month and devastated Mexico Beach and surrounding areas; however, he received word from pastors in that area that they had been inundated with relief help but was hearing that Albany, GA was in great need.

A connection was made with the pastor of Victory Tabernacle in Albany, GA, who reported they were in desperate need of any relief items, and claimed they had just been praying for items to be sent their way.

Most people are familiar with Albany, GA because it is the home of Sherwood Baptist Church.  Sherwood Baptist Church is the organization responsible for creating films such as Facing the Giants, Fireproof, and Courageous.  For more information about the church click here.

The first truck that was delivered on behalf of Grayson County was quickly distributed from a former Coca-Cola  warehouse that is owned by the community, where churches are organized to oversee the distribution of items that come in.

Pastor Clemons said the first truck replenished an empty warehouse when it arrived this week, and the items were quickly given out, leaving the warehouse empty again; therefore, a second semi is being filled to send relief once again to this area.

Pastor Clemons said his contact in the area says the expected date of power restoration is next Thursday, and schools may be back in session by mid-November.

With thousands of people unable to work, generate income, dislocated from their homes, and several suffering total loss, the items that are most requested are: bottled water, canned food items, new clothing items (socks, underwear, t-shirts, shoes), diapers, cleaning and hygiene items.

The goal this time is to load packed totes and palettes of water.  If you would like to help, the suggested method is to have your family, place of work, church, or organization fill a tote with suggested items and take to Potter’s Hope Ministries (135 Commerce Drive, Leitchfield) on Monday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Other delivery times may be added, if so, we will continue to update this story.
