Playing in the final game of the day-long Cougar Jamboree in the Cougar Den on Saturday, the Cougar basketball team faced a big, experienced team from Hopkinsville, and were able to get very little done in their first scrimmage game of the season.

The format for the game was four quarters of eight minutes each just like a regular game, but with the score zeroed out after each quarter. The Tigers won every quarter, with only the first period being close at all, 15-13. Totaling up the final scores of each quarter, the Tigers accumulated 65 points to just 32 for the Cougars.

The Tigers put three players into double figures, led by senior Jacarius Burks, who finished with 18 points. Senior James Nicholas finished with 15 points, while senior Jamarion Sharp, a true 7-footer, finished with 12.

Junior Nolan Shartzer led the Cougars in scoring with 18 points, while senior Spencer Sharp had eight. Senior Logan Majors scored four points, while senior Josh Embry had two to complete the scoring.

This Friday evening will be Meet the Cougars Night, where both the boys and girls teams will be introduced and will play intra-squad scrimmages. This year the proceedings will be broadcast live on K-105 beginning at 6 p.m.
