Sunday night at approximately 8:30, the Leitchfield Fire Department responded to a house fire at 803 Grayson Street.

Upon LFD Chief Tim Duvall arriving on the scene, he found “heavy fire showing” on the right side of the residence. Within minutes, over a dozen Leitchfield firemen were on-scene, as they battled to contain the blaze to one section of the home amidst heavy winds.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. While fighting the blaze, fire officials were unsure if anyone was in the home, but a search of the residence revealed no occupants.

Duvall said a bedroom and laundry room suffered severe fire damage, with the remainder of the residence suffering smoke damage.

The Leitchfield Police Department assisted at the scene.

LFD cleared the scene shortly after 10:00.
