A father and his three-year-old son have died after being exposed to carbon monoxide.
Louisville Metro Police responded Wednesday morning to a home in the 9900 block of Plaudit Way, in Valley Station, after the unidentified father and his two children were found by a family member unresponsive inside the family’s garage.
Authorities said it appears the 39-year-old father was warming up his car with the garage door closed, according to media reports.
A seven-year-old girl was transported to Norton Children’s Hospital where she is in critical condition.
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. It’s lighter than air and spreads quickly and in high concentrations can be deadly in fewer than five minutes.
While police continue the investigation, officials believe the incident was an accident.
