The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office says it will conduct traffic safety checkpoints on New Year’s Eve.
Sheriff Norman Chaffins said he “would like to remind our citizens that the GCSO and other agencies will be teaming up on New Year’s Eve to conduct traffic safety checkpoints at various locations throughout our county.”
Chaffins said checkpoints will be set up at various intersections, and not limited to “major intersections.”
The purpose of the checkpoints is to “detect drunk/impaired driver, as well as ensure motorists are bucked up and obeying Kentucky’s traffic laws,” according to Chaffins.
Citizens may view the list of approved checkpoint locations at the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office during normal business hours.
“If you plan on consuming alcoholic beverages, we ask that you arrange for a sober driver to get you to and from your destinations,” Chaffins stated. “And remember: be a defensive driver at all times, especially during the holidays as other drivers may be impaired. On behalf of the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, have a Safe and Happy New Year!”
