Intoxicated driver wrecks with unrestrained baby in car in Ohio Co.

On Wednesday, Kentucky State Police arrested a Lexington man after he crashed in Ohio County while intoxicated, and with two small children in the vehicle.

Police said 43-year-old Nathan A. Stevens was traveling on the Western Kentucky Parkway at approximately 5:15 Wednesday night and attempted to exit onto the William Natcher Parkway via the northbound ramp. Stevens lost control of his 2012 Dodge Ram truck and struck a guardrail before turning over into a ditch.

Two children where inside the vehicle; a five-year-old and an eight-month-old. Police said the eight-month-old baby was not restrained and was found under the front passenger seat of the truck. Both children were transported to Ohio County Hospital and later released to their mother.

Stevens was arrested and charged with DUI (with aggravating circumstances), two counts of wanton endangerment, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of criminal abuse, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and failure to use a child restraint device.

He was transported and lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
