As first reported by K105 on Monday, the Clarkson Police Department is investigating after a man purchased a drone with counterfeit money.

Clarkson Police Chief Buck Meredith said that on Tuesday, January 29, a Clarkson man arranged to meet an unidentified male he met on Facebook. The two met in a parking lot in Clarkson at approximately 10:30 that evening, where the victim sold the man a drone for $100. When the victim took the $100 bill to his bank the following day, he was informed it was counterfeit.

Meredith has released surveillance footage (seen below) of the exchange and is asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect. While the suspect’s face is not visible in the video, the man does have a distinctive walk that hopefully someone will recognize. The suspect is seen walking through the parking lot to the victim’s car, then jogging away after the purchase.

The victim said the suspect was a white male in his mid-20s, standing about 5-foot-10. He is heavy set with dark hair, a brown beard and goatee.

Anyone with information on the possible identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Clarkson PD at 270-242-2841.
