A northern Kentucky woman has been arrested after faking a cancer diagnosis and collecting over $10,000 in donations.

Jessica M. Krecksay, 25, was indicted for theft by deception, more than $10,000, after collecting donations from her co-workers and private benefits, according to Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders. She is accused of stealing the money between 2013 and 2017.

Krecksay worked at an urgent care facility in Erlanger. The investigation began when her co-workers became suspicious.

Krecskay was lodged in the Kenton County Detention Center but has since posted a $2,500 bond.
