At Tuesday afternoon’s Grayson County Fiscal Court meeting, magistrates approved the re-appointment of Angel Hayes as County Treasurer for a four-year term.

Hayes, who became treasurer in January 2016, has prepared county government’s payroll since 2003, as an employee at Buckles, Travis & Hart, PLLC, where she worked for 20 years.

Judge-Executive Kevin Henderson re-appointed Hayes as treasurer in one of his initial moves after being selected as J-E by Gov. Matt Bevin in August 2017, and Hayes became a key figure in Henderson’s transition as the county’s new leader.

Brick work bid awarded

Ud Contracting, located on Lilac Road, was awarded the bid to remove and replace the brick on the Grayson County Government Building from the roof line to the top of the windows on the west and south sides of the structure.

The loose brick on the building is becoming a safety hazard after years of neglect, necessitating the work being completed. The cost of the project, according to Ud’s bid, will be $196,669.

Money moved from Road Fund to General Fund

Henderson, who has successfully lobbied the state for additional Road Funds to the tune of $1.5 million, recommended that magistrates reallocate proceeds from the Occupational Tax Revolving Fund.

The money had been split — 60 percent to the Road Fund and 40 percent to the General Fund — but the split will now be 55 percent Road Fund/45 percent General Fund after the reallocation was approved by magistrates.

Consumer Price Index E-911 adjustment

Each year on July 1, the Grayson County E-911 subscriber rate is amended based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as published by the U.S. government. This year, the CPI dictates raising the E-911 subscriber rate from $2.70 per month to $2.78 per month.
