Ohio Co. authorities pursue stolen vehicle into Daviess Co.

A couple in a stolen car led Ohio County authorities on a pursuit through two counties on Sunday.

Sunday just before noon, 40-year-old Daniel York, of Evansville, Indiana, stole the car from a laundry mat in Beaver Dam, according to a report by SurfKyNews.com. Soon after, Hartford police spotted the vehicle on Hwy 69 and gave chase. When police attempted to execute a traffic stop, York sped up and turned onto 1543 traveling east.

A Beaver Dam police officer was run off the road by York as the pursuit continued toward Beaver Dam. The pursuit ended on Hwy 231 in Daviess County after Kentucky State Police deployed spike strips, incapacitating the vehicle.

In total, the chase lasted about 30 minutes.

York was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, theft by unlawful taking (less than $10,000, automobile), first-degree fleeing or evading police, unlawful imprisonment, reckless driving and multiple moving violations.

Also charged was York’s passenger, 26-year-old Leslieann Filback, of Cromwell, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was additionally served with multiple warrants.

Both suspects are being held in the Ohio County Detention Center.
