(Leitchfield, KY) – We are heading into one of the hottest weeks of Summer even though fall sports are underway.  There are several activities this week that you and your family could be a part of right here between the Twin Lakes of Grayson County.

Thursday, September 12th

Senior Center Open Every Weekday

The Grayson County Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 2 with activities and a meal served daily. Call 270-259-4885 for more information.

Rinse & Return Program 

The Grayson County Extension Office will hold a Rinse & Return program at their office at 123 Commerce Drive in Leitchfield in the front parking lot on Thursday, September 12th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  The Rinse & Return program is a free, voluntary cooperative program sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Agri-Business Association of Kentucky.  The program allows for the proper recycling of containers used to store pesticides that cannot be recycled with ordinary household plastic containers.  This program reduces the amount of pesticides that may enter landfills, waterways, or that are being disposed of by other means.  There is no sign-up or advanced registration required.  Those bringing containers should have them pressure rinsed or triple rinsed in accordance with KDA guidelines. Grayson County Center for Women’s Ministry Class Left High and Dry

The Grayson County Center for Women’s Ministry will start the class Left High and Dry  on August 22nd from 5:30 pm-6:30pm. This class will be held at the Grayson County Public Library.  Call or text 270-589-0879 to register or for more information.

Grayson County Board of Education Meeting

The Grayson County Board of Education will meet on Thursday, September 12th at the Grayson County High School at 6:00 p.m.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group

There will be a pregnancy and infant loss support group at the Grayson County Health Department on Thursday, September 12th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Anyone who has experienced the tragic loss of a baby is invited to attend as the group will offer peer support, encouragement, and community.

Volley For A Cure

GCHS volleyball game vs. Ohio Co is also Volley for a Cure night.  There will be a bake sale and they will also be taking up donations which will go back to GC to help families battling cancer.  Game starts at 7:30 p.m.

Cougar Soccer vs. Russellville (away game) starts at 6:30 p.m.

The 3:16 Extreme Youth Rally will take place Friday, September 13th & Saturday, September 14th at the Grayson County Fairgrounds.

Annual Angel Tree Truck, Tractor & 1/4 Scale Tractor Pull and Benefit Auction

Annual Angel Tree Truck, Tractor & 1/4 Scale Tractor Pull and Benefit Auction

Grayson County Special Need’s Fall Festival

The Grayson County Special Need’s Fall Festival for all ages will be held at Potter’s Hope gym on Saturday, September 14th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  No reservations are required to attend, and this is a free event for all ages special needs and their families.  There will be food, games, photo booth, and music.

Grayson County Women of Worth Meeting

The Grayson County chapter of Women of Worth will meet at Faith Redeemed Church of God church in Leitchfield, 1548 Anneta Road.  Upcoming speakers and locations will be announced.  Fellowship at 6. Worship/Testimony at 6:30. Join us and hear the moving testimony of Stevie Peterson. She’ll be speaking a message titled “God WILL give you more than you can handle.” Stevie has a beautiful testimony and we’re excited to hear what God has laid on her heart

GC Center for Women’s Ministries Prayer Meeting and Greif Share Support Group

A prayer team meets today at noon at the Grayson County Center for Women’s Ministries. All women are invited to attend the time of prayer & devotion.  There is a Grief Share support group that meets at 1:15 p.m. today at the Grayson County Center for Women’s Ministries. Evergreen pass times:

The skate park, basketball courts, and the Taylor Fork Trail is always a free option, and while you’re in the area, the Grayson County Public Library is another free option for all ages to enjoy.

The new playground at James D. Beville Park is now opened.  There is a walking path at this park, and a picnic pavilion and restrooms.

The Ronald H. Hudson Fire Station playground and splash pads are free.  There is a walking path at this park, and a picnic pavilion and restrooms.

The Ed  Nichols Nature Trail in Clarkson is another free option.

Rough River and Nolin Lake’s beaches are still open and free for public use.
