Stolen vehicle leads to third manufacturing meth charge for Elizabethtown man

An investigation into a stolen vehicle has led to the arrest of an Elizabethtown man on a laundry list of methamphetamine and theft charges.

On Tuesday night, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office made contact with 37-year-old David Hart when a stolen vehicle was spotted in his driveway. During the investigation, police located a one-pot methamphetamine lab in Hart’s backyard along with several bags of methamphetamine and loaded syringes, as well as other drug paraphernalia, according to a report by The News-Enterprise. Police also found keys to the stolen truck.

Inside the truck authorities located items used to manufacture methamphetamine, including rock salt, Liquid Fire drain opener, multiple tubes, Draino, coffee filters, and a coffee grinder.

In the bed of the truck police found a stolen license plate. Police said the truck had been painted black and a license plate belonging to a different vehicle was on the truck.

Hart, who has two previous convictions for manufacturing methamphetamine, was again charged with manufacturing methamphetamine along with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), receiving stolen property (under $10,000, receiving stolen property (under $500), obscuring the identity of a machine, theft of identity of another without consent, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with three parole/probation violations.

He is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
