(Leitchfield, KY) – Hometown Christmas will commence this weekend in Grayson County with the first event Friday evening at James D. Beville Park in Leitchfield.  Dignitaries and elementary students will help bolster the Christmas Spirit with signing carols, serving coco, and lighting the 52 Christmas displays spiraled throughout the park.  The lighted displays will be lit daily for visitors to drive thru the park and enjoy until 10:00 p.m. each evening this holiday season.  Caneyville and Clarkson will also host their tree lighting ceremonies this evening at 6:00 p.m.

The Salvation Army is need of more bell ringers this season in Leitchfield.  If you would like to ring the bell you can call Tracey Dennision (270) 259-0043.  All the proceeds collected stays in Grayson County.

Friday, December 6th:

Light-Up Leitchfield

The City of Leitchfield will host their annual Light-Up Leitchfield ceremony on Friday, Dec. 6th at 5:00 p.m. at James D. Beville Park.  Santa will make a visit.

Clarkson Tree Lighting Ceremony

The City of Clarkson will host their annual tree-lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 6th at 6:00 p.m. at Clarkson City Hall.  Santa will make a visit.

Caneyville Tree Lighting Ceremony

The City of Caneyville will host their annual tree-lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 6th at 6:00 p.m. at the Purple Flash Center.

Candy Cane 5K

The Hometown Fun Run will be on Saturday, Dec. 7th at James D. Beville Park at 8:00 a.m. $25 per person, benefits Tri-County CASA.  Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

Hometown Christmas Parade

The Leitchfield Hometown Christmas Parade will be on Saturday, Dec. 7th beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Grayson County Fairgrounds.  Lineup begins at 9:30 a.m.

Jack Thomas Christmas Open House

We invite you to join us for our Christmas open house. On Saturday, December 7, starting at 10:00 am and lasting until 2:00 pm, the Jack Thomas House will be open for free tours. We will also have live music with the Grayson County High School, and Clarkson and Caneyville Elementary School choirs all scheduled to sing. Santa will also make a special appearance and refreshments will be served.

GCHS Cheerleaders Chili Supper and Auction

The GCHS Cheerleaders are headed to Walt Disney World next Spring to compete in National competition and need your support.  They will host a chili supper and auction 4 p.m. at GCHS.

HoHo with the PoPo Fundraiser

A fundraiser for the Clarkson Police Department’s HoHo with the PoPo Christmas aid program will be held Saturday, December 7th at The Lodge at Nolin Lake.  All tip proceeds go toward financing HoHo with the PoPo, which provides less fortunate children in the Clarkson area with Christmas presents. Proceeds from HoHo with the PoPo are also used throughout the year to help financially disadvantaged families.  The Lodge at Nolin Lake is located at 14088 Peonia Road. The restaurant is open until 7:00 p.m.

Leitchfield United Methodist Church will have their Annual Christmas Cantata on December 8 at 10:00.  This year’s title is “Christmas Dreams” and all are welcome to hear the beautiful Christmas Story.

First Baptist Leitchfield Christmas Cantata & Sampler

First Baptist Leitchfield’s Christmas Cantata and Sampler will be held this Sunday at 6:00 p.m.  Enjoy the Choir’s Christmas Cantata and then a sampling of Christmas desserts.

The Grayson County Ministerial Association (GCMA) will hold its regular Monthly Meeting Tuesday Morning, September 11th @ 8:30 a.m. at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in the cafeteria. Ministers/leaders from all congregations in the area are invited and encouraged to attend.

Grayson County Rotary Club Meeting

The Grayson County Rotary Club meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at noon at Mr. Gattis in Leitchfield.  Anyone interested in participating in the club is welcome to attend the meetings.

Celebrate Recovery meets every Wednesday at The Well, across from the Leitchfield United Methodist Church, at 5:30 p.m. for a light meal, 6:00 p.m. for worship, and 7:00 p.m. for small group meetings.  Celebrate Recovery is for every person to help you grow as a person spiritually, and overcome hurts, habits, or hang-ups.  Daycare if available.

The skate park, basketball courts, and the Taylor Fork Trail is always a free option, and while you’re in the area, the Grayson County Public Library is another free option for all ages to enjoy.

The new playground at James D. Beville Park is now opened.  There is a walking path at this park, and a picnic pavilion and restrooms.

The Ed  Nichols Nature Trail in Clarkson is another free option.
