A 21-4 run to start the game by Meade County doomed the Grayson County Lady Cougars on Tuesday evening in Brandenburg in an 86-58 final.

The story of the game surrounded Lady Wave senior Kendall Wingler, an EKU basketball commit, who finished with 38 points, 24 of which came from beyond the arc.

Despite falling behind big early on and never being able to climb out of the hole, the Lady Cougars continued to fight on offense. The offense in the second quarter was led by freshman Aryssa Riggs who hit two quick three-pointers that appeared to possibly allow for a comeback, but Meade proved to be too much.

Out of the halftime break, the Lady Cougar offense began to heat up behind Rachael Snyder, Annie Kiper, and Raigan Cave, but the Lady Waves three-pointers continued to fall by Wingler and the rest of the team. Meade finished the game with 13 total threes.

In the closing minutes, Grayson County put JV players into the game with Briley Renfrow and Riley Stevenson each getting their first career varsity points.

The 86 points allowed by the Lady Cougars was the first time they had allowed 80+ points in a regular-season game since 2/10/2014 and the most overall since allowing 99 points to Ohio County in 2008.

In the loss, Rachael Snyder led the Lady Cougars with 14 points, Raigan Cave had a career-high 11, Kenzie Renfrow finished with 10. Also entering the scorebook was Annie Kiper with 7, Aryssa Riggs with 6, Ella Robinson with 4, Briley Renfrow and Gracie Franklin each with 2, and Riley Stevenson and Bailey Snyder with 1 point.

Grayson County will return home on Friday evening for the 12th District opener against Edmonson County. Our coverage will begin with the Locker Room Show at 5:40 pm. You can watch live on K105.com or listen on K105.
