A Grayson County High School senior has made a decision on where he will compete athletically over the next four years.

Cougar Track and Field senior Ethan Pierce announced his commitment to Brescia University in Owensboro on Thursday afternoon.

Pierce will compete in the pole vault for the Bearcats.

In the indoor state championships earlier this year, he finished in 6th place overall in the event. The lone outdoor meet this season saw him win the pole vault along with also being a part of the winning teams for the 4x100m and 4x200m relays.

Last year, Pierce finished as the state runner-up in the pole vault after jumping over 14 feet. Just a month prior to that performance, he won the regional title with a record-setting 15-foot jump.

On the commitment, Grayson County Track and Field head coach Matt Hayes said, “Brescia is very fortunate to receive a tremendous athlete and an outstanding individual.  Ethan is a wonderful example of making a commitment and working tirelessly to reach his goal.  Congratulations to Ethan and his family.”

Pierce joins fellow senior Draven Stewart at Brescia. Stewart will be competing for their cross country team.
