A Leitchfield man is facing fleeing charges after leading the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office on a brief pursuit.

Sunday night at approximately 7:25, Sgt. Fred Norder was notified that 39-year-old Daniel L. Conrad was driving on a suspended license and “in a reckless manner” in the 4900 block of Owensboro Road — On Saturday night, Deputy Jason Luedke ticketed Conrad for driving on a suspended license in the same area of Owensboro Road.

Norder searched the area but did not locate the 1992 Ford truck Conrad was driving.

Norder and Deputy Mark Johnson then responded to another call in the Clarkson area. As Norder neared Clarkson, he spotted Conrad driving the Ford east on Elizabethtown Road.

According to the arrest citation, Norder and Conrad made “eye contact” as the sergeant turned around and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Conrad, though, accelerated as Norder activated his lights and siren, turning onto Oak Wood Lane so recklessly that Norder thought Conrad was going to “roll the vehicle.”

Norder pursued Conrad for about a quarter-mile on Oak Wood Lane before the suspect stopped and was arrested without further incident.

He was charged with fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, driving on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, no registration receipt, and failure to notify address change to the department of transportation. Conrad was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

In early April, Conrad was arrested for at least the third time in three years on drug charges at a traffic stop in Leitchfield. In that case, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and DUI.
