Following in the footsteps of the Clarkson Honeyfest and Grayson County Fair, the Caneyville Community Fair has been cancelled over coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns.

“The Caneyville Community Club is sad to announce the cancellation of the 87th Annual Caneyville Community Fair held on the first weekend of October,” fair officials said in a letter posted to the fair’s website. “Due to the uncertainty of being able to follow CDC and state guidelines pertaining to the restrictions of COVID-19 we have regretfully came (sic) to the decision to not have the Fair this year.”

Officials said with the fair scheduled for October, the hope was that the national health emergency would have eased.  But with a recent surge in coronavirus cases in Kentucky, officials determined hosting the popular event would not be “advisable,” and that having “large crowds together is not possible in the foreseeable future.”

“We wish to thank everyone that donates, volunteers, and comes out to participate to have a great Community Fair and hope to have one next year,” officials said.
