The Grayson County football team moved to 2-0 on the season last Friday with a 27-0 shutout of the visiting Breckinridge County Tigers.

Senior Caden Woodcock ran the ball 29 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns to spark the Cougars. Junior quarterback Kaylor Decker completed six of 10 passes for 77 yards and ran three times for 26 yards, including a 32-yard run for a touchdown.  Senior Zach Bratcher spearheaded the Cougar defense with 10 tackles.

The Cougars opened the game with a 17-play, 66 yard drive for a touchdown at the 4:22 mark. Woodcock carried in from two yards out. Sophomore Jackson Kane added the extra point to make it 7-0.

Just before the end of the first quarter, the Cougars took possession of the ball at the Tiger 37-yard line. Eight plays later Woodcock carried in from the nine at the 8:44 mark of the second period to make it 14-0, and the score stayed that way until the half.

As the second half opened, the Tigers went for it on a fourth-and-13 play at their own 47, and an incomplete pass gave the Cougars the ball. It took the Cougars just three plays to get on the board again. With third and inches at the 37, Woodcock broke free up the middle and carried in for another score. With 8:51 left in the third quarter, the Cougars led 21-0.

With 9:06 left in the game, the Cougars took possession of the ball at their own 26-yard line. They took 6:08 and nine plays to move 74 yards for the final score. Decker kept the ball on a first-and-10 play at the 32 and carried in for the score. This time Kane’s extra-point try failed, but the Cougars prevailed 27-0.

The Cougars will try to go to 3-0 this Thursday at 7 p.m. when they play host to the Muhlenberg County Mustangs (0-2).
