Coray Milam’s three-goal game led the Lady Cougar soccer team to a 7-0 victory over visiting McLean County on Tuesday at the Grayson County soccer complex.

Milam was scoreless entering Tuesday’s game but the freshman quickly got on the board in the game’s ninth minute when she took a crossing pass from Gillian Johnston and beat the McLean goal tender for a 1-0 lead.

Milam then assisted on the Lady Cougars’ next goal, sending a pass to sophomore Kelsey Sneed, who scored to make it 2-0 in the 26th minute.

In the 35th minute, Johnston was fouled deep in the penalty area and was awarded a penalty kick. The senior easily converted the scoring opportunity to make it 3-0, which is how the first half ended.

Less than a minute into the second half, a shot by junior midfielder Malorie Zurhmely clanged off the cross bar and went right to Milam, who put the ball into the net to make it 4-0.

Milam then made it 5-0 in the 47th minute by taking a crossing pass from senior Marinah Akridge and put it in the net for her third goal of the game.

Junior Ellie Evans scored in the 65th minute to make it 6-0, then added another goal in the 69th minute that made it 7-0.

This was the Lady Cougars’ final game of the season and they finished with a 3-7 record.
