A Kentucky State Police Trooper arrested a motorist who blew by the trooper at 120 miles per hour on the eastbound Western Kentucky Parkway near Caneyville.
Tuesday morning at approximately 1:50, Trooper Casey Keown was patrolling the parkway near Caneyville when a 2020 Ford Escape passed Keown at 120 mph, according to the arrest citation.
Keown executed a traffic stop on the Ford and made contact with the driver, 33-year-old Joseph B. Gossett, of Chardon, Ohio, and immediately detected an odor of “burnt marijuana” coming from inside the vehicle, the citation states. Keown also found an open beer bottle in the driver’s side door panel.
During a search of the vehicle, the trooper located marijuana in the center console and front passenger floorboard. On the backseat floorboard, Keown found another open beer bottle.
Gossett was given a field sobriety test and arrested.
He was charged with DUI, speeding 26 mph or more over the limit, reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and possession of marijuana. Gossett was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.
