The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) has released a coronavirus update as November’s surge continues and appears to be strengthening.
The health department said Monday afternoon that an alarmingly high 62 new cases of the virus have been confirmed since the department’s update on Friday. The newly reported cases increase Grayson County’s COVID-19 victim count to 890 since the onset of the pandemic (roughly one case per 30.3 residents).
Since last Tuesday, November 17, the county has had 93 cases of the virus confirmed (15.5 per day). Since October 27, the county has had 369 COVID-19 cases confirmed (14.2 per day), representing 41.4 percent of the 890 total cases since the onset of the pandemic about eight months ago.
Two new deaths were also reported on Monday, raising the county’s COVID-19 victim count to 25, and giving Grayson County three virus-related deaths since Friday.
The GCHD said 103 of the cases are active.
The health department added that 762 (85.6) percent) people have recovered from the virus.
