27 new COVID cases in Grayson Co., one new death

The Grayson County Health Department (GCHD) has released a coronavirus update.

GCHD Director Josh Embry said Friday that 27 new cases of the virus were confirmed since the last update on Wednesday.

Grayson Co. has now had 445 COVID-19 cases diagnosed over the last 34 days, an average of 13.1 per day, and 186 cases over the last 12 days, an average of 15.5 cases per day.

The new cases increase the county’s COVID-19 victim count to 1,541 (about one case per 17.5 Grayson Co. residents).

One new death was reported, raising the county’s death toll to 42. Embry said five previously reported deaths are under review by state health officials.

The health department said there are 160 active cases in the county, an increase of 10 active cases since Wednesday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,339 (87.4 percent) Grayson Co. residents have recovered from the virus.
