Kentucky State Police is investigating following a Bowling Green woman being killed when her disabled vehicle was struck by a semi-truck on I-65.

State police said that Saturday morning just before 5:00, troopers were requested by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office to respond to a fatal collision at the 32-mile marker of southbound I-65.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford passenger vehicle, being driven by 30-year-old Ceirra Brown, became disabled in the right lane of the interstate. A 2020 Peterbilt semi-truck, hauling two trailers and being driven by 44-year-old Christopher Zatezalo, of Spring, Texas, was traveling southbound when the semi struck the Ford, causing one of the trailers to overturn, police said.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.

This marks the second time in two weeks that someone was killed when their disabled vehicle was struck on I-65.

On January 25, a Louisville woman, 47-year-old Naomi Sparrow, was killed after her disabled Dodge Avenger was struck by a semi-truck on I-65 in Hart Co.

The Kentucky State Police investigation showed that Sparrow struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to stall in the right lane. A 2020 Kenworth semi, being driven by 48-year-old Nettie Reeves, of Palmersville, Tennessee, then struck the Avenger. The Dodge was hit a second time by a 2007 GMC SUV.

Sparrow was pronounced dead at the scene.
