Grayson County High School senior football player Zack Bratcher has been named the recipient of the Doug Thompson Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship is given by the GCHS Football Alumni Association and is worth $500. The qualifications can go to any member of the team who plans to continue their education through an undergraduate degree program or certification from a college, university or technology school.

Bratcher is the son of Josh and Brandy Bratcher. He will attend, and play football for, Campbellsville University. There, he will major in criminal justice.

In a release, the association says that “Zack represents what we want our Cougar Football players and GCHS students to be.  His actions, on the field, in the classroom, and in the community, reflect greatly upon himself, GCHS, and his family.”

“Zack has had a very good career here at GCHS as a linebacker,” said Cougar football head coach Bryan Jones. “He’s been a 3-year starter that has worked his tail off. He is a great example of setting a goal as a young kid and working to achieve it throughout his career. He is the ultimate selfless teammate stepping in to play offensive line for us this season to help contribute to our successes on that side of the ball. Couldn’t be more happy and proud.”

Bratcher led the team in tackles in both his junior and senior seasons. During his career, he had six takeaways and a pick-six against Graves County in 2019.
