A Breckinridge County woman has been charged with murder in the shooting death of her husband.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of Lonnie Haynes Road, about four miles northwest of Custer, Wednesday morning at approximately 6:50.

Upon arriving, police discovered Dennis Devers deceased outside of the residence. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said the initial investigation showed that Devers and his wife, 33-year-old Amanda M. Devers, had been arguing when the dispute escalated. Police said the couple was arguing over personal property at the residence.

At some point during the argument, Amanda Devers shot her husband multiple times. Amanda Devers, police said, accidentally shot herself in the foot as well.

She was transported to Baptist Health Hardin for treatment and was later released and arrested and charged with murder.

The victim’s body was taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for autopsy.
