There were unfounded reports of a student with a firearm at Grayson County High School on Wednesday.

After several students reported to staff late Wednesday morning that a student had a gun at the school, the Leitchfield Police Department and School Resource Officer Ian Renfrow responded and investigated the claims.

It was determined during the investigation, according to Leitchfield PD Detective Kevin Smith, that the accusations of a student with a gun were untrue.

Principal Josh Baldwin sent the following text to parents/guardians of high school students after rumors spread throughout the community:

“Everything is fine at the high school. The administration was made aware of a situation that is being investigated. All students are in class and we are carrying on with normal instruction.”
