Two raids conducted by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police and DEA resulted in the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of a large amount of methamphetamine and over $20,000 in cash.

The multi-agency drug raids were executed last week at 9814 Caneyville Road (Hwy 79) and 10389 Caneyville Road, only a short distance from the Grayson County line. Upon law enforcement arriving at one of the residences, the suspect, 46-year-old John T. McGuffin, fled to the bathroom and began flushing the toilet, according to a report by the Beech Tree News. During a search of McGuffin, police found a canister containing several Fentanyl pills.

A search of the home yielded over $23,000 in cash, two bags of methamphetamine, pain medication, marijuana, and digital scales along with other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

McGuffin was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (Carfentanil or Fentanyl derivatives), trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana, and tampering with physical evidence.

He was lodged in the Butler County Jail on a $20,000 cash bond.
