An eastern Kentucky man is facing murder charges after he had a wreck while allegedly high on methamphetamine that killed his two passengers.

The accident occurred on the evening of November 11 on Hwy 1006 in Laurel County. London police said Christian Shrader, 21, of London, was driving when his vehicle was involved in a crash that killed a 20-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man.

Police who arrived at the scene said they witnessed Shrader driving recklessly just before the wreck.

Shrader was taken to a local hospital, where an officer heard him tell staff members he had taken methamphetamine before the crash. Police found two bags in one of Shrader’s socks, with one containing methamphetamine residue.

After an investigation and analysis of blood evidence, Shrader was arrested after being released from the hospital and charged with two counts of murder, DUI (non-alcohol) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

He is lodged in Laurel County Corrections on a $500,000 bond.
