
The Grayson County Health Department on Friday updated the county’s COVID-19 numbers.
The health department said 39 new cases of the virus have been diagnosed since the last update on Monday. There have been 5,115 cases diagnosed in Grayson County since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.
One new verified death was reported, raising the county’s death toll to 100. Five suspected COVID deaths are awaiting confirmation from state health officials.
There are 79 active cases in the county, officials said, up 27 from Monday. One resident is currently hospitalized.
The county’s incident rate checked in at 40.5, well up from Monday’s 29.2. The county remains in the “red” along with 99 other Kentucky counties. There are 27 more “red” counties than on Monday.
All bordering counties are also in the “red,” with Ohio County having the highest rate of occurrence at 57.2.
The statewide incident rate is 41.74, up from Monday’s 27.84.
