108 new COVID cases in Grayson Co. since Tuesday, 722 active cases

The Grayson County Health Department on Wednesday said 108 new COVID-19 cases have been diagnosed over the last 24 hours.

Between Friday and Wednesday, 478 new cases have been announced, raising the total number of cases ever in the county to 6,987.

Since January 13, the health department has reported 1,161 new cases of the virus, and since January 3, 1,582 COVID cases have been reported in the county: about 69 per day.

Grayson County’s incident rate on Wednesday checked in at 270.3. An incident rate over 25.0 indicates a “critical spread” of the virus, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

There are 722 active cases in Grayson County, down 10 since Tuesday.

Fourteen people are hospitalized, health officials said, down one since Tuesday.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the county’s death toll to 113. Six deaths are awaiting confirmation from state health officials.

All six bordering counties have incident rates well into the “red,” with Hardin County posting the highest rate of occurrence at 322.5 (tenth highest of Kentucky’s 120 counties), followed by Ohio (311.4, fourteenth), Breckinridge (251.9), Edmonson (138.7), Butler (129.8), and Hart (114.1) counties.

Nearby Muhlenberg County (415.3) and Hopkins County (404.5) have the highest rates of occurrence in the state.
