In what surely was a terrifying few minutes, a Bardstown family was robbed at gunpoint after their vehicle broke down in Washington County, about six miles east of Springfield.
Washington County Sheriff Jerry Pinkston said that at 1:12 Tuesday morning, his office received a report of an armed robbery on Perryville Road near the intersection of Pottsville Road.
The male victim told Deputy John Spaulding that his family, including his wife and two children along with his father, had experienced car trouble and pulled off the side of Perryville Road. Soon after, a westbound vehicle stopped about 100 feet in front of the family.
Two male suspects then exited the car and upon reaching the family, put a gun to the father’s head and forced him to the ground. The suspect, police said, told the man he wanted his money and jewelry. The other suspect then approached one of the passenger windows with a firearm in hand and demanded the family’s belongings.
Police said the suspects took cash, gold rings, a necklace, watches, wallets, and a purse. The two suspects then returned to their vehicle and drove east.
The only description the family was able to give was that the two suspects are men.
Anyone with information on this armed robbery is asked to contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 859-336-5400 or your local law enforcement agency.
