A former Bullitt County Special Deputy has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and money laundering charges.

Christopher A. Mattingly, 40, pled guilty to flying over 1,000 kilograms (over 2,200 pounds) of marijuana into Kentucky from California in 2014 and 2015. He also brought in methamphetamine.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said that Mattingly hid the proceeds of the operation in various bank accounts and used some of the money to pay for additional marijuana shipments.
