Police arrested a Louisville man on Wednesday and charged him with the murder of a seven-year-old boy as he sat at his kitchen table eating cake.

Police said 23-year-old Wyatt Williams was arrested for the May 21 slaying of Dequante Hobbs Jr.

Authorities said that Williams was involved in a dice game when he pulled a gun and fired multiple shots at one of the subjects playing dice, media reports said. One of the bullets traveled through the window of Hobbs’ home on West Madison Street, striking Hobbs in the head as sat in his kitchen having a bedtime snack and playing on his iPad.

Louisville police said Williams was on home incarceration at the time of his arrest, after his arrest two days after the shooting on drug charges. He is lodged in Louisville Metro Corrections.
