Aberdeen Grocery owners victim of violent armed robbery

Sunday night at approximately 9:20, Aberdeen Grocery store, located at 40 Caneyville Road near Morgantown, was robbed at gunpoint.

Police said the two men who own the store, Raj Patel and his son Sam Patel, suffered cuts and abrasions after they were violently assaulted by the suspect.

Video surveillance shows a person entering the store, taking the owners behind the counter, and striking Sam Patel in the back of the head with a piston, rendering him unconscious, according to media reports. Raj Patel then opened the safe for the assailant before being struck several times in the face.

The suspect then took the money from the safe and cash register and fled the scene.
Police told multiple media outlets that the suspect was wearing all black, including a black hoodie and ski mask, along with gloves.

Both victims were transported to The Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
