
Carroll “Ray” Daugherty, age 81 of Westview, passed away Monday, September 11th, 2017, at his residence. He was born on May 11, 1936, in Hardin County, Kentucky the son of the late Rev. Simon and Rev. Iva Peters Daugherty.
He was a Korean and Vietnam Army Veteran serving his country from 1956 – 1965 in the medical department. He also worked as the head medical technician at the Mammoth Cave, Great Onyx Job Corp Center from 1968 – 1975. He was attending The Church of Hardinsburg and has been involved in many different ministries and churches throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, singing Gospel songs and playing guitar, fishing, praying and witnessing to people about Christ.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Rev. Simon and Iva P. Daugherty, two brothers, Samuel Daugherty and Charles Daugherty, an infant son, Steven Daugherty and one grandson, Anthony Kerr.
He is survived by his wife, Jerlene Kerr Daugherty of 51 years, one son, Richard “Rick” Daugherty (Kathy), two daughters, Tamy (Brian) Cannon and Rebecca “Becky” (Michael) Miller, six grandchildren, Christopher Aaron (Sara) Kerr, Cassandra (Bobby) Decker, Stephanie Ranee (Mike) Rawlings, Thomas (Ashley) Daugherty, Micah and Mekayla Miller and two step grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Watson & Hunt Funeral Chapel in Leitchfield with Rev. Kenneth “JR” Smiley officiating. Visitation will be held after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
