As previously reported by K105, on Saturday the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and several other local, regional and state law enforcement agencies conducted a warrant roundup in the county.

Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins said the roundup, coined “Operation GC Storm,” netted 20 arrests and summons served.  In the span of five hours, approximately 110 attempts were made to serve warrants and criminal summons, something that would have taken his deputies about two weeks to accomplish, according to the sheriff.

“These arrests and summonses included flagrant non support, trafficking in controlled substances, assault, failure to pay fines, cold checks, and other misdemeanor and felony indictment warrants,” Chaffins said. “In one arrest attempt, the man fled from officers on foot, but was quickly apprehended where he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. A subsequent search warrant at the man’s residence led to the confiscation of approximately two pounds of processed marijuana, as well as multiple guns and drug paraphernalia.”

Sheriff Chaffins said Saturday’s roundup was the most successful since 2015, and that it could not have happened had it not been for the assistance of all the agencies that participated, including the Leitchfield Police Department, Kentucky State Police, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, the Grayson County Detention Center, Clarkson and Caneyville Police Departments, Grayson County Constables, and the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force.

“The plan is to have at least two of these roundups every year, and the GCSO would like our citizens to know that we will not stop looking for every wanted person in our county until they are either arrested or they are no longer wanted by authorities,” Chaffins said.
