Driver flees scene of wreck on Hwy 79; police find prescription pill bottles made out to multiple subjects

Monday night at 10:50, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Caneyville Police and Fire Departments responded to the intersection of Hwy 79 and Watershed Avenue on the report of a single-car accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Rance Whobrey and Caneyville Police Chief Anthony Clark found that a southbound Nissan Versa left Hwy 79 and entered a soybean field. The vehicle took out a church sign and got sideways as it slid about 110 feet after leaving the roadway, and into the field.

No driver was found at the scene, but a search of the Nissan revealed several prescription pill bottles, with dozens of pills, made out to at least two different people (some of the bottles had illegible names). At least one of the bottles contained amphetamine. Four cold beer cans were also found inside the vehicle.

The investigation into the accident continues and is being led by Deputy Rance Whobrey and Caneyville Police Chief Anthony Clark.
