On Thursday morning at approximately 10:00, Kentucky State Police observed a suspicious vehicle parked at the Econo Lodge on Scottsville Road, in Bowling Green.

While attempting to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle, a 2017 Ford F-150 pickup, it fled the parking lot at a high rate of speed onto Scottsville Road, with police activating lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The truck, though, continued south on Scottsville Road where it entered the northbound lanes of I-65 at the 22 mile marker. Police said while traveling north at speeds reaching 110 mph, the Ford’s occupants began throwing stolen items out of the windows.

The vehicle continued to the 58 mile marker in Horse Cave where it exited and re-entered I-65 onto the southbound lanes. The Ford continued southbound where it exited I-65 at the 28 mile marker onto Hwy 31-W south, in Bowling Green.

The driver of the Ford, 24-year-old Shaquillie J. Williams, of Savannah, Georgia, then lost control of the truck and struck a light pole before overturning near the 3100 block of Hwy 31-W. Williams exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was soon apprehended.

Williams and a passenger, 48-year-old Ann Rinck, of Canby, Oregon, were transported to The Medical Center. Police said Rinck was admitted to the hospital while Williams was treated and released and lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.

A second passenger, 26-year-od Charles Hawkins, of Pompano Beach, Florida, was transported to The Medical Center and later airlifted to Skyline Medical Center with a serious but non-life threatening injury.

Williams was charged with four counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, three counts of tampering with physical evidence, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and several traffic-related charges.
