Sunday night at approximately 8:15, the Leitchfield Police and Fire Department, along with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responded to the intersection of Brandenburg Road and the William Thomason Byway on the report of a single-vehicle accident.
Upon arriving at the scene, LPD officer Joe Overton and Sgt. Robert Jackson found that a Toyota passenger car, being driven by 32-year-old Cristy Milliner, of Leitchfield, was traveling north on the byway when it failed to stop at the Brandenburg Road intersection.
The vehicle left the roadway and went airborne (and down a steep embankment) for about 40 yards before crashing into the ground at the bottom of the embankment. Based on damage to the vehicle and marks in the soil, it appears the car impacted the ground head-on.
Milliner, who was critically injured, was unresponsive at the scene and was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by EMS before being airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of multiple injuries, including severe head trauma.
Milliner’s condition at the time of publication was unavailable.
GCSO Deputy Taylor Logsdon assisted at the scene.
