Marjorie M. Simpson Meredith, age 89 of Leitchfield passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at her residence. She was born October 16, 1928 in Leitchfield, Kentucky the daughter of the late Charles Bethel and Callie Marie Nash Simpson.
She is survived by one daughter, Betty Johnston of Leitchfield, five sons, William P. Meredith II (Becky) of Elizabethtown, Rev. Richard Meredith of Hopkinsville, John R. Meredith of Owensboro, Patrick Meredith (Debbie) of Elizabethtown, and Michael A. Meredith (Lori) of Paducah, one sister, Billie Ruth of Leitchfield, two brothers, Lewis Noel Simpson of Cecilia and C. B. Simpson (Elisabeth) of Kaiserslautern, Germany, twelve grandchildren, Bill Johnston (Sharon) of California, Dawn Johnston of Louisville, Meredith Johnston Burkhart (Troy) of Louisville, William Percy Meredith III of Louisville, Christopher Meredith (Amanda) of Elizabethtown, Matthew W. Meredith of Elizabethtown, Patrick A. Meredith (April) of Elizabethtown, Michael A. Meredith (Lydia) of Paducah, Joshua S. Meredith of Paducah, Luke T. Meredith of Paducah, Emily T. Meredith of Pacucah, and Jaclyn A. Meredith of Paducah, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Percy Meredith I, three sisters, Sabina Simpson, Flora S. Williams and Wanda S. Carby, and two brothers, Lonnie and Everett Simpson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leitchfield with Fr. Tony Bickett officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday at Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors in Leitchfield. Prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
