Today is Valentine’s Day! A day of love and laughter, but possibly a day of panic because of procrastination. If you forgot to get your Love that perfect present and are now scrambling, don’t worry! Take a few minutes for a gift brainstorm session, tap into your inner creativity, but absolutely consider avoiding the gifts listed below:

  • Socks- But if you insist on this, make sure they are the warm fuzzy socks that EVERYONE loves!
  • Gym Membership- Unless your partner is a total fitness buff, this could definitely come across as insulting and may cause a crashing halt to your Valentine’s Day plans.
  • Gift Card- Hmm… maybe choose something that portrays a more personal and specific feeling to your husband or wife. They may feel like a gift card is a cop out.
  • Tie-  Usually, ties are not fun because the wearer only gets to experience them in business or serious situations. That is not the vibe you want to portray on the Day of Love.
  • Kitchen Utensils- Christmas gift? Maybe. Mother’s Day gift? Probably not. Valentine’s Day Present? No way.
  • Make-up- Sometimes, guys want to surprise their girl with new makeup, but this isn’t usually successful unless she has picked it out ahead of time. Instead, consider a day at the spa or massage.
  • IOU- Hey, we are all human and we forget things… it happens, but just be honest with your Valentine and let them know what is going on. Don’t just shrug it off and say something like “I’ll getcha next year.” Because doing this, may lead to never having a “next year.”

If you feel like you are at a total loss over what to get your Valentine, check out his or her Pinterest Board or Amazon Wish List. It is a great way to get a glimpse of something they really want, but may not want to buy for themselves.

This post was all in good fun because, honestly, Valentine’s Day is about getting your significant other something you know they will love and enjoy. So maybe they really do love getting socks or ties, and if so, that’s what you should get them! One year, I got some Bamboo cutting boards (technically considered kitchen utensils) and I was super excited about them. Just make today special and fun in your own way and style. Have a great Valentine’s Day!

Until next time.
