The Hartford woman implicated in the robbery and kidnapping of her mother at the hands of a Caneyville man has been arrested.
On Sunday afternoon at 1:15, Kentucky State Police conducted a traffic stop on East Union Street in Hartford and discovered the driver to be 25-year-old Samantha N. McCormick.
McCormick had two warrants for her arrest for kidnapping and robbery, and was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. She was arrested and lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center on two bonds totaling $50,500.
McCormick, along with her boyfriend, 30-year-old Adam Lacefield, of Caneyville, are accused of entering her mother, Noreen McCormick’s residence on El Retiro Lane in Ohio County, in September 2017, and “rummaging through” the home searching for money, according to Ohio County Sheriff Tracy Beatty.
When Noreen McCormick intervened and threatened to call police, Lacefield held the older McCormick on the floor, with Samantha McCormick telling her mother, “Bitch, you ain’t calling nobody,” while threatening to physically harm her if she did not give them money, Sheriff Beatty said.
Samantha McCormick also pointed a pellet gun at her mother and said, “I could shoot you right now.” The two suspects fled the residence after taking cash and Noreen McCormick’s cell phone.
Adam Lacefield was arrested by Grayson County Deputy Sheriff Fred Norder on January 25 and charged with robbery, kidnapping, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, and being a persistent felony offender.
