The parents of an adult with Down syndrome have been jailed on $1 million bonds after police accused the couple of murdering their son.

The investigation began in December 2017 after 20-year-old Logan Christy, of Clark County, died. The medical examiner’s report stated that Christy had no food in his stomach at the time of his death, and suffered from malnutrition, dehydration and pneumonia.

Police told WKYT.com that the parents received benefits for Christy until he turned 18, which is when the parents failed to seek additional government benefits for their son.

The parents, 61-year-old Albert Christy and 65-year-old Patsy Christy, were arrested on Monday and charged with first-degree murder.

Both Christy’s are being held in the Clark County Detention Center.
