The Kentucky Department for Public Health’s most recent flu stats shows another spike in flu-related deaths.
The health department reports its numbers from February 25 through March 3 indicate there were 648 lab-confirmed cases of influenza, with 33 people dying during that same time-span. That’s 20 more flu deaths than the 13 reported the previous week.
From February 4 through the 10, 30 people in Kentucky died of the flu.
Officials have downgraded the flu from widespread to regional, as only certain areas of the state are now seeing increased flu activity.
Kentucky has seen 8,715 lab-confirmed flu cases this season, with 197 deaths a result of the virus.
