Tuesday afternoon at approximately 5:20, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 700 block of Mahurin Cemetery Road on the report of a domestic disturbance.

According to police, the disturbance involved 54-year-old Dennis Jaggers, of Falls of Rough, and his wife, and began on Monday and carried into Tuesday afternoon, when Jaggers began making threats to burn down their mobile home, and drive his vehicle through the residence.

An intoxicated Jaggers also entered a vehicle and began driving erratically on the roadway around the home, and in the yard, according to police.

While Deputy Fred Norder was en route to the scene, he was informed via dispatch that Jaggers had brandished a shotgun, and that several of his family members had barricaded themselves in a mobile home about 200 yards away from Jaggers’ residence. It was then that they heard two gunshots, with those barricaded inside the trailer not laying eyes on Jaggers after the shots rang out.

As Deputy Norder arrived, not long after shots were fired, he encountered Jaggers standing in his yard, unarmed. Deputy Norder took Jaggers into custody without incident.

Deputy Mark Newman arrived on scene shortly after Norder and assisted in the investigation.

After speaking with witnesses and the victim, Jaggers was arrested and charged with second-degree wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, menacing, criminal mischief, alcohol intoxication, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

No injuries were reported.
