A woman is behind bars after her three-year-old nephew died in a house fire after being left home alone with an 11-year-old boy.
Police say 37-year-old Amanda Brock, of Coldiron (Harlan Co.), left her 11-year-old son and three-year-old nephew home alone Saturday night to go to go-cart races in another county.
State police say the Harlan County home caught fire just before 9:00 Saturday night, according to media reports. The 11-year-old left to tell a neighbor, but police said by the time someone got back to the home it was destroyed.
Officials are still investigating what caused the fire.
Brock was arrested and charged with manslaughter and wanton endangerment, and lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
