At Thursday night’s Grayson County School Board meeting, it was announced that Grayson County High School Principal Todd Johnston will be stepping down from his position to become the Director of District-Wide Programs.

A new high school principal will be named at a later date.

Johnston’s new position will encompass a wide range of responsibilities including, ensuring Title 9 compliance and working with district’s central office regarding other federal programs.

Johnston became principal of the high school on July 1, 2012, replacing current Superintendent Doug Robinson. He began his tenure in the Grayson County School system in 2000 after working in the Edmonson and McLean County systems after graduating from WKU in 1992.

The Grayson County native and highly successful head basketball coach, Johnston led the Cougars to the Sweet 16 in both 2001 and 2009.

Jim Blain, former Principal at Grayson County Middle School and current Principal at the Grayson County Technology Center, will retire effective June 30. Blain’s replacement has not been named.

K105 will have more information on these moves in the coming weeks.
