The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) presented several awards during the Association’s Awards Luncheon on May 11 at the 89th Annual KHA Convention in Lexington.

KHA’s Health Care Governance Leadership Award, which recognizes individuals who have had a positive and sustainable impact on the quality of care in their community, was presented to Trevor Ray, board chair of the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

Ray has served on the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center (TLRMC) Board of Directors since 2013 and as Board Chairman for the last two years. He also serves as the Chairman of the Twin Lakes Medical Foundation Board, the W.T.K. Holdings Board and on the hospital Board’s Quality Committee.

During his tenure as Board Chairman, TLRMC has twice been named a national Top-100 Rural and Community Hospital, received two KHA Quality awards, received two CMS Four-Star Quality Ratings, expanded its Swing Bed Program, added a Medical Stabilization Program and implemented an Opioid Stewardship Program.

Ray is co-owner of the Midway Pharmacy chain of five pharmacies and in this capacity has partnered with TLRMC to offer a Meds-to-Beds program for patients and participates in the hospital’s 340B prescription drug program.

Ray is a strong proponent of health care services being offered at the local level. He has spent countless hours lobbying for fair Medicaid payments to the 520 independent pharmacies across the state and testified on their behalf in support of Senate Bill 5 during the most recent legislative session.

He is a member of the Grayson County Chamber of Commerce and serves on its governing board. He is a dedicated husband and father of three children and is an active member of the Sunny Point General Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon.

Trevor Ray once noted, “In all the various work and service experiences of my life, I have learned that leadership not only requires the strength of a ‘follow me’ attitude, but also the humility to subject oneself to make decisions based upon the greater good of those one serves.”

Ray is an outstanding individual and a model for other trustees to follow. It is the impressive dedication of individuals like him that make Kentucky hospitals successful at providing quality care and demonstrate the commitment of KHA Governance Award honorees.
